Christmas Land 2015 comes to Aphrodite Hills

Christmas Land comes to Paphos
CHRISTMAS comes to Paphos this weekend, Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th December with an event to be held at Aphrodite Hills , Paphos , Cyprus.
Titled ‘Christmas Land,’ the two day programme will include a visit from Santa and many activities for children, as well as numerous stalls and attractions.
Stalls will sell arts and crafts, sweets, decorations, handmade jewellery, and will take place at the village square at Aphrodite Hills resort in Paphos.

The events’ Hanna Papaconstantinou, told the Cyprus Mail that the regular annual event is now in its tenth year and for the first time will run all weekend.
“This is the first time that we are holding the event on both Saturday and Sunday and there are many activities planned, as long as the weather holds.”
She noted that the forecast for the weekend includes rainy periods, but said that the event will still go ahead if the weather is inclement, but will instead be held inside a newly completed area.
“We have a lovely new venue which has a covered roof and a stage, and in the summer it’s open, only covered by the roof. But during the winter we can close it in on all side and it’s of a good size so it will be able to contain many people.”
She stressed that whatever the weather, the event would proceed.
Santa will pay a visit on both Saturday and Sunday and will be handing out small gifts to children between 3- 5.30pm.
Weather permitting there will be a number of outdoor activities for children including a mini Olympics, a bouncy castle, a dance show, kid’s performances, face painting, hair braiding and bag design.
There will also be artificial snow between 3-4pm on Sunday.
On Saturday, from 4pm until 6pm, actors from the popular Greek TV series ‘Brusko’ which is currently showing on ANT 1, will be at the event, signing autographs, meeting fans and taking photos.
Entrance to the event is free and all of the proceeds from the ‘Christmas lottery draw’ will go towards the Paphos municipality social grocery, which is helping to feed hundreds of needy families in the Paphos district.
Papaconstantinou said: “Each raffle ticket is priced at 2 euros and this will go towards helping these families. We have some great prizes to be won; vouchers for accommodation in the hotel, in an apartment, dinner at our restaurant, golf, spa visits and more.”
She added that last year around 2,000 people visited the event during the day and that this year, they are hoping to attract even more visitors as the bazaar is being held over a two day period.
A chocolate fountain and a live DJ will also enhance the entertainment.
